Roads and Closures: Route 30 lanes close for bridge checks

What to expect on Lancaster County roads, Oct. 12 to 18: daytime lane closures on Route 30, a closed Route 222 on-ramp near Brownstown, and a Saturday parade in Millersville.

Route 30 drivers get the most to plan around this week. PennDOT will close lanes on two stretches for bridge inspections, during the middle of the day, Tuesday through Thursday.

The big ones

Route 30, Rohrerstown Road to Mountville. Crews will inspect four bridges that cross Route 30: Running Pump Road and Centerville Road in East Hempfield Township, and Stony Battery Road and Druid Hill Road in West Hempfield Township. Westbound Route 30 loses its right lane and shoulder Wednesday, Oct. 14, and its left lane and shoulder Thursday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The eastbound side follows Oct. 19 and 20. No detour is posted. PennDOT

Route 222 northbound and the Route 772 on-ramp, West Earl Township. The right lane of northbound Route 222 at the bridge over North Church Street, and the on-ramp from Route 772 at the Brownstown-Rothsville exit, are closed for expansion joint and bridge pier repairs. PennDOT's latest notice says both are closed Oct. 9 to 13, until repairs are complete. An earlier notice said the ramp could stay closed up to two weeks. Detour: southbound Route 272 (Oregon Pike) to northbound Route 222. PennDOT

Major highways

Route 30 under Third Street, Columbia. Lane restrictions for a bridge inspection between mile markers 254.2 and 254.4: eastbound Tuesday, Oct. 13, and westbound Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. PennDOT

Route 30 eastbound at Soudersburg Road. The right of three lanes is blocked for roadwork, listed through Oct. 15. 511PA

Route 30 eastbound exit to Route 222 North. The ramp is disrupted by work on the Route 30 and Route 222 interchange project, listed through Oct. 16. (511PA)

Lancaster city

The city had posted no new street closures for the week as of Thursday afternoon.

Lititz and northern county

Warwick Township paving. Township crews started paving Oct. 6 on Braderic View Drive, Cinder Hill Road, Lookout Lane, Regents Drive, Clay Road (Newport Road to Pine Hill Road, and Lincoln Road to the township line), and Millway Road (Newport Road to Picnic Woods Road). Expect flaggers. Some sections may close with detours, but residents, deliveries, and school buses will get through. No end date is posted. Warwick Township

Elsewhere in the county

Millersville Parade, Saturday, Oct. 17. The homecoming parade steps off at 8:30 a.m. from Penn Manor High School and follows Herr Avenue, Landis Avenue, and North George Street to the James Street lot at Millersville University. Residents on the route, or between Herr Avenue and North George Street, will not be able to drive out from 8 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m. Millersville University

Route 322, East Earl Township. Resurfacing continues on 28th Division Highway between Martindale Road and Weaverland Road, with flaggers on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The project is set to finish by May 28, 2027. PennDOT

Tobacco Road and Diamond Station Road (Route 1022). Closed in both directions between Eagle Drive and Diamond Street for a damaged roadway, listed through Oct. 30. (511PA)

Coming up

Eastbound Route 30 lane closures for the Hempfield bridge inspections run Oct. 19 and 20. Route 283 near Landisville loses its eastbound right lane Oct. 21 and its westbound right lane Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for an inspection of the Landisville Road bridge.

Closures are as posted by the agencies on Thursday, Oct. 8, and can change with the weather. Check 511PA before you leave.
